此肖像推測係一休宗純圓寂十年後所雕造，約於十五世紀下半葉日本京都真珠庵創建時期，現為日本重要文化財。一休，法名宗純，日本臨濟宗禪僧，不拘威儀，其奇異行徑和趣聞，婦孺皆曉，致力改革當時的禪風，使趨向大眾化，並復興京都大德寺，功不可沒。
該像由多材檜木接合而成，眼瞳鑲嵌玉石，外表敷彩。內著僧祇支，外披袈裟，袈裟左上方有垂吊環扣，衣服上並飾有細小花紋，裳裾垂覆座前，雙手握拳置於膝上，端坐於大曲彔上。面相方正，臉龐消瘦，額頭深刻皺紋，高顴骨，眼瞼半開，鼻翼寬大，口唇緊閉，具道貌岸然的老僧之相。頭髮、眉、髭鬚皆嵌入獸毛，其技法特殊，刻劃逼真，寫實地表現一休的性格。
