印度北方邦秣菟羅布台薩爾遺址出土
印度北方邦秣菟羅（Mathura, Uttar Pradesh）布台薩爾遺址（Bhuteshwar）出土。薩埵那太子本生事見《賢愚經》卷一〈摩訶薩埵以身施虎品〉，佛陀過去世為摩訶薩埵太子，於竹林中見一母虎因飢餓逼切，覓食無著，欲食幼虎；太子心生悲憫，遂刺身出血，捨命飼虎。此主題在中亞及中國廣為流傳，留有大量作品，但本作品是印度現存的唯一遺例。
該浮雕分為上中下三個區間。上層太子如佛陀般的造型坐於中央，兩側為其侍者。中層磨損嚴重，似有一婆羅門或仙人模樣坐於草廬前，與侍者說話。下層刻劃倒下的太子被老虎啃噬的場面，畫面中不見幼虎，背景中有樹與草廬。
