印度北方邦鹿野苑遺址出土
印度北方邦瓦拉那西（Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh）鹿野苑（Sarnath）出土。菩薩頭繫冠帶，上飾化佛，束高髻，卷髮披肩。半閉的眼睛與笈多王朝（約320～550）秣菟羅（Mathura）地區造像同樣呈現沉思冥想的神情，但臉形更為渾圓，線條更為柔和，展現鹿野苑造像的特質。戴耳飾、項鍊、臂釧，左肩掛有一條聖線。髮飾、腰帶及臂釧雕刻精細華麗，寬大的腰帶於右腿側邊打結下垂。左手持蓮莖，蓮莖已斷，右臂損毀，但仍可見殘存於腰際上的右手作與願印。左腳稍往外伸展，立於蓮台上，姿態優雅，身體比例自然。
台座上有兩個餓鬼伸手欲接自菩薩右手滴下的甘露。台座正面的銘文說明造此像目的在於使一切眾生獲得徹悟，是表現出大乘佛教思想的典型造像。
