印度北方邦秣菟羅出土
印度北方邦秣菟羅（Mathura, Uttar Pradesh）出土，為貴霜王朝（約1〜3世紀）典型的菩薩頭像。秣菟羅的佛與菩薩造像可說是同時期發展，但菩薩像沒有犍陀羅菩薩像普遍。該像相貌年輕，為貴霜秣菟羅佛和菩薩造像的共同特徵。其臉龐豐腴，五官端正，表情略帶微笑，刻劃生動。敷巾冠飾尤其莊嚴，額上有兩條裝飾帶纏繞頭部，頭頂豎立大型冠飾，外圈為火焰紋飾，內圈作輻射狀線條，中心綴一垂飾，顯得十分華貴。
秣菟羅的菩薩像一般戴有豪華的敷巾冠飾，乃貴霜王朝貴族的裝飾打扮。戴法是由一塊布把額頭裹起來，以一個金屬緊扣二邊的布，立起如冠，長布纏繞成圓形的大花結，中央飾珠寶、掛瓔珞，常被用作菩薩的寶冠或悉達多太子造像的頭飾。
