Rampurva: Ox Capital of an Asoka Pillar

印度比哈爾邦蘭普爾瓦出土
印度比哈爾邦蘭普爾瓦（Rampurva, Bihar）出土。柱頭上的圓雕瘤牛除雙角與一耳損壞之外，其他部分保存完好。瘤牛呈靜止站立姿態，直視前方。腹部與腿間沒有鏤空，與下方圓盤相連，起加固作用。圓盤立面交錯排列玫瑰、棕櫚葉及忍冬紋飾，下為十六片覆蓮瓣形成的鐘形托座。
浮雕紋飾和覆蓮托座均與波斯王宮流行的裝飾相似。瘤牛造型則承襲了印度河文明以來印度本土的傳統，豎耳、口鼻和後傾的駝峰線條柔和，身軀厚實，肌理起伏自然，充溢著印度傳統藝術特有的生命活力。此石柱以被磨光的楚納爾（Chunar）砂石雕刻，磨光石面，至今仍光可鑑人。
