此菩薩像身後裝藏蓋板，尚有墨書題記「大元國至元十九年（1282）四月庚寅朔廿日」，是存世有明確紀年的中國木雕作品之一，提供了珍貴的紀年資料。板內有完好的粗絲、五穀種子、五彩絲片及香段碎末等裝藏物。
菩薩頭戴高寶冠，冠中飾小化佛，面容略顯嚴肅。袒上身，胸飾項圈珠花，帔帛披肩繞臂，下著長裙，腰間繫花結。上身姿態略往後方左傾，小腹微凸，左腳前踏，重心落於右腳，立於蓮台上。
該像體型健碩優雅，結構處理協調，肌肉與服飾較不著重於繁複刻劃。衣飾細部體現出當時晉南地區（今山西襄汾城南）木雕作品的特徵。
