寫經畫係於經書卷首或中間，附上與經文內容相關的插畫，以助於解讀經文。韓國佛經的抄寫，最早是墨書於黃紙上，新羅（57 BCE～935）末期後，才漸漸以金銀泥來抄錄。高麗時期（918～1392）專設寫經院、金字院抄錄經書，從此金銀經書大為盛行。此圖為《大方廣佛華嚴經》卷三十一之卷首圖，經文抄自罽賓國三藏般若譯本。一九八四年指定為韓國國寶第215號。
此圖作於高麗忠肅王六年（1337），為一對夫婦為祈求往生父母的安樂，及自我幸福長壽與最終往生佛國發願供養所造。此經經文以銀泥抄寫，典雅莊嚴，字跡端正。卷首圖以金泥描繪善財童子參謁天主光天女、徧友童子及善知眾藝童子的場面。諸多高麗時期的寫經卷首圖仍保存至今，是研究高麗時期藝術極為重要的資料。
