此像為中國七世紀下半葉至八世紀初的作品。造像剃髮，無髻，身著袈裟，無瓔珞裝飾，作僧人的造型。頭臉渾圓，兩頰飽滿，眉清目秀，形貌秀美，很可能是釋迦牟尼佛十大弟子中以多聞第一著稱的阿難。釋迦牟尼佛涅槃後，阿難繼承大迦葉，率領徒眾，弘揚佛法。造像中常與大迦葉侍立佛陀的兩側。此作品極可能是一組造像中的單件。
阿難內著交領衣，外著袈裟，雙手交疊腹前，頭部微側，腰肢輕移，全身作「S」形，立於蓮台上，體態自然。下襬露出整齊的褶線，袈裟衣褶作立體的弧形，隨著身軀的動作起伏，寫實而自然，是一件唐代（618～907）製作精巧的小像。尊像與蓮台為一體鑄成，蓮台下接一插榫。現存圓台部分為後加。
