該像為泰國他叻瓦滴時期（Dvaravati，約6～13世紀）作品。在佛教圖像中，法輪為轉輪聖王的七件寶物之一，亦寓意佛陀於印度鹿野苑初轉法輪演說四聖諦法門。
推測此作品原置於柱子上方，法輪中間為鏤空方形軸心，向外延伸出三層同心圓，內層無雕飾，外側兩層雕刻花草紋飾，條輻仿羅馬式柱子造型。輪輞雕飾繁密花紋、雲紋，最下端雕有齜牙咧嘴的獅面像。
