「海闊能容物蓮心不受污」，象徵修行者應有大海包容萬物的胸襟，及蓮花處於污泥卻不受染污的清淨心。
此印字重漢韻筆法，運用盤曲的篆法布局，更創用短刀碎切，特顯刀意，因此筆意亦帶有刀意，相映成趣，呈現簡潔利落的風貌。
朱簡字修能、脩能，號畸臣，後改名聞。明代（1368～1644）篆刻家。約活動於萬曆年間（1573～1620）。休寧（今安徽休寧）人。對古印及篆研究深入，不拘泥於時尚；將戰國時期（約476～221 BCE）古璽校訂為先秦時期（221～207 BCE）印章，尤屬創見。
