Double Bodhi Tree Niche (side colophon)
雙菩提樹龕 江兆申

邊款釋文「雙菩提樹移自菩提迦葉，其祖株即佛成道處，去年定植。自秋徂冬，今已枝敷葉茂，亭亭如蓋矣。因刻石記之。其時丁卯新春也。兆申補。」可見其記錄此雙菩提樹移植於印度佛陀成道處。
此為一方齋堂館閣印，印文五字，分三行布置，一二行各兩字，第三行僅安「龕」字，以漢印為基礎，任其自然。所用刀法以衝刀為主，線條挺勁，有粗細變化。此種跳脫框架的布局與用刀組合，介於放縱與制約之間，營構出意想不到的奇趣。
江兆申字茮原，安徽歙縣人。早年以刻印、抄書貼補家計，一九四九年渡海來臺。一生僅受過二年正式小學教育，憑著毅力與耐心自修苦學，在詩、書、畫、印四絕皆卓有所成。隨溥儒學畫，並精研諸家史籍。篆刻由漢印方挺一類入手，且留心皖浙兩宗，所作大印樸實而雄健。在藝術史研究與鑑定方面，亦有傑出貢獻。
