與長樂寺一翁偈語 無學祖元

此原為卷軸,後改裝成掛軸,共四幅,每幅高約36.4公分,寬86.3公分。該卷是無學祖元書贈日本常樂寺住持一翁院豪,文中援引香嚴擊竹而開悟的典故,進而肯定一翁能承繼禪法正道之意。一翁曾入宋(960~1279)求法,與無學祖元同在無準師範座下參學,闊別多年相見,一翁求其垂示,遂作此卷。一九五一年指定為日本國寶。
 無學祖元書學張即之,此作多見結字方正者,即受張即之影響所致。用筆極為清淡,圓筆則增添了樸拙的趣味。其撇捺又自然直送,展現了舉重若輕的書法風貌,是意蘊內含、耐人尋味之作。
 無學祖元為南宋(1127~1279)臨濟宗楊岐派僧,日本禪宗佛光派之祖。祥興二年(1279)應北條時宗之邀赴日,初住鎌倉建長寺,後時宗於鎌倉創圓覺寺,諡號「佛光禪師」。
