Buddhism Governs the Mind, Daoism Governs the Body

以佛治心以道治身 沈六泉

印文所載,銜「以佛治心,以道治身,以儒治世」的思想,是中國佛、道、儒三家思想融合的具體展現。
 此為八字朱文方章,屬於多字印。布局方式分三行排列而成,一、三行各三個字,第二行兩個字。
 這方印用了許多布局技巧,例如:「以」字的穿插,「佛」字的挪讓與盤曲,第二行「心」與「以」兩字的留空呼應。其次是「道」字的變化,原本道字的古篆或小篆都並非是此印文字體,作者採用古尚書字文,增加許多圓筆,形成一副統一完美的畫面;「治」與「身」的筆畫雖多,但不顯得擁擠。
 整體來看,全印是以蜿蜒的小篆字體布局,風格顯得婀娜多姿。刀法運用平順,極為工整,似衝刀法刻成。觀其印風儒雅而無俗氣,清新而有神韻,有梁袠、鄧石如遺風。全印娟麗洗練,整方印幾無邊界,通透無約束,疏朗自適。
 沈六泉,年代待考,僅載於葉為銘所輯《廣印人傳》:「沈六泉字竹溪,烏鎮人。」
