Characters - Abbot

禪院額字方丈 張即之

日本

此為日本聖一國師由中國返回日本後,其師無準師範由中國寄予。後此幅多見摹刻複製,為日人最熟悉的張即之書作,如京都禪宗寺院所懸「方丈」匾額,即是模刻東福寺所藏墨跡。一九七四年指定為日本重要文化財。
 宋代(960~1279)中日禪僧頻繁交流,中國書風往往由此傳入日本。張即之在中國書名甚盛,又多有寫經作品,故禪僧書法多受其影響。其大楷樸實鋒勁,有天然無藻飾的宏大氣象。張氏的書法成就,影響日本更鉅,日本寺院之題匾,往往有追此風格者。
 張即之字溫夫,號樗寮,南宋(1127~1279)書法家。善作擘窠大字,晚年學佛,亦藉由書法的揮灑而體悟禪法。
