弘法大師傳 後宇多天皇

後宇多天皇（1274～1287在位）四十九歲時所書。全文四十一行，計五百七十六字。此卷為後宇多天皇於空海大師冥誕時，書寫其傳記而成。一九五四年指定為日本國寶。
後宇多天皇深於學術與佛學，於京都教王護國寺受真言密教灌頂，並深研真言密教奧義。此卷內容不止是空海的傳記，就連書風上，也看得出與空海有密切聯繫，甚至與空海有共同的顏真卿風格，故此卷更有豁然直截的大方氣概。
後宇多天皇名世仁，為日本第九十一代天皇。皈依空海大師，於教王護國寺接受傳法灌頂，熱衷於佛法修行。
