此緬甸繪本計五十二頁，經摺裝，每摺頁高50.5公分，寬19.5公分，下方書有文字說明。十九世紀時緬甸非常流行以圖文豐富的繪本，詳述佛陀的本生故事，此作品即為其中最精緻者之一。約於一八三七年由英國人伯尼（Henry Burney）攜回英國。
圖以四摺頁表現燃燈佛授記本生。右上方一排身著袈裟、手持鉢的比丘，首位為燃燈佛，後方隨行五位弟子；佛足前為作苦行相的善慧，五體投地拜倒於泥濘的道路上，讓佛踏過其身軀，而免污泥弄髒雙腳。以此恭敬虔誠的因緣，燃燈佛遂為善慧授記，於未來當得成佛，號釋迦牟尼。圖四周刻劃士農工商各階層人士當時的生活景象，展現不同的建築、生活型態和服飾裝扮，寫實而生動。
