Daikakuji Temple: Will and Testament with Handprints (right end section)

手印遺告 後宇多天皇

日本

後宇多天皇(1274~1287在位)書於十四世紀上半葉,書風與《弘法大師傳》相類。此作乃後宇多天皇為祈寺務興隆,蓋取法空海大師遺告弟子二十五條之事,普勸大眾要遵守的法則,並為京都大覺寺之法脈傳承之事而書;卷上捺蓋有後宇多天皇之雙手掌印。第一條簡述其與佛教之淵源由來,論及學佛出家等過程。一九五一年指定為日本國寶。
 此卷用筆厚實,結字寬綽,略見顏真卿書風的影響。架構雖偶見稚拙失當,但起止折鋒皆細謹無所懈怠,有書家之法度風範。雖章法過密,仍不失為佳作。
 後宇多天皇為日本第九十一代天皇,平生好學,涉獵內外典籍。信仰佛教,皈依空海大師,出家法號金剛性。
 參考釋文:遺告諸弟子等/應勤護當寺教法後代內外事貳拾伍箇條狀/竊以法體常恆流傳屬人幸宿緣相引得沐高/袒大師法流此地相應建立寺院傳持法流仍聊書/條目以示吾後矣/一建立大覺寺傳流法脈緣起第一/吾生在皇家二歲備春儲八歲登大極而初出珠/胎之日虛空現兩部曼荼羅外袒前左大臣實雄公/感見此事意以為此兒可繼皇統之大器也何感此
