印度北方邦鹿野苑遺址出土
印度北方邦瓦拉那西（Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh）鹿野苑（Sarnath）出土。佛傳八相成道作品在貴霜王朝（約1〜3世紀）已經出現，笈多（約320〜550）至波羅王朝（Pala，約8〜12世紀）出現了大量的作品。
該浮雕分作四層，每層劃分成兩個區塊，共計八個場景。造像雖略有損壞，但畫面尚可辨識，底層左右和頂層左右分別表現樹下誕生、降魔成道、初轉法輪及涅槃四大事件，第二層和第三層左右則穿插獼猴奉蜜、降伏醉象、佛自忉利天返人間及舍衛城神變等常見的佛傳故事題材。
人物皆面相豐腴，線條柔和，肩寬體壯；身上不見一絲衣紋，僅以陽刻線條表現領口、袖口和下襬，衣薄貼體，身段畢露，呈現笈多王朝鹿野苑特有的裸體佛像造像風格。
