巴基斯坦西北邊境省塔克西拉遺址出土
巴基斯坦開伯爾巴圖克瓦省塔克西拉古城（Taxila, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa）出土。犍陀羅的菩薩像與佛像有顯著不同，推測菩薩的形象是以釋迦牟尼成佛前太子身分的貴族形象為範本。依髮型、冠飾、衣著、持物而有所區別，常見以頭戴敷巾冠飾呈現古印度王公貴族的裝扮造型，而綰髮束髻則反映婆羅門修行者的相貌特徵。
該菩薩像綰髮，分二綹繫結，濃密的長髮披垂至肩後，蓄鬍髭，眉間有白毫，身體強壯；上身赤袒，佩戴多重項圈、瓔珞、珠鍊及臂釧、腕釧等，帔帛包裹左肩後斜披而下，垂至膝前回繞掛於右臂上；下身纏印度稱為兜堤（dhoti）的腰布；右臂已斷損，左手指間挾持水瓶。依髮型、持物可判斷為彌勒菩薩。衣紋流暢厚重。膝以下已缺損。
