位於阿旃陀石窟（Ajanta Caves）第16窟大廳右壁。描繪佛陀回鄉，勸導其同父異母的兄弟難陀出家皈依佛法的故事。壁畫採取一圖數景的連續性敘事方式展開，以建築物劃分出十餘個場面，各場景不按時間順序排列，而是依照故事發生的地點來安排畫面的構成。由於壁畫剝落嚴重，一些內容難以確定。
畫面以中間下方釋迦牟尼佛回鄉說法的場面為中心展開，其上方是難陀出家的場面。剃度場景之左側是難陀的妻子孫陀利見難陀的寶冠得知丈夫已經出家，悲痛欲絕頓時昏倒的戲劇性場面；右側是坐在地上陷入沉思的難陀。
繪畫風格不過分強調線描，面部表情刻劃生動，這些特點都表明作品中保留了大量古典繪畫風格的要素。
