甘肅省酒泉市敦煌市莫高窟第17窟出土。依據《大方便佛報恩經》繪製。中央繪釋迦牟尼佛說法，兩側條幅以連環畫方式表現須闍提太子本生，即經中所講述釋迦牟尼佛前世報恩的故事。
中央說法圖中段繪一佛二脇侍菩薩，均坐於蓮座上。前有十二伎樂分坐寶台左右，寶台中央為舞伎。寶台下方中央繪毗盧遮那佛，菩薩、比丘脇侍在旁。釋迦牟尼佛兩肩上有日、月圖案，胸前須彌山兩旁有四臂阿修羅及坐在鼎上的羅剎；圖案為佛教宇宙觀的象徵。
本生故事情節始於圖右側條幅上方，依次往下發展，緊接著至左側，由下而上鋪陳，場景之間以山水區隔，皆有榜題。作品下方中央為發願文題記兩側繪供養人像，從男供養人戴的軟腳襆頭，可推斷此作繪製於九世紀上半葉。
