觀音菩薩變相
甘肅省酒泉市敦煌市莫高窟第17窟出土
甘肅省酒泉市敦煌市莫高窟第17窟出土。繪製於十世紀下半葉。觀音頭戴化佛寶冠，蓄小鬚，深綠色帔巾繞於六臂間。上二手各舉日輪及月輪，內繪金烏和樹作為象徵；中二手結說法印，下二手各持淨瓶和念珠。結跏趺坐於蓮座上，台前設供桌。
觀音兩側繪《妙法蓮華經》卷七〈觀世音菩薩普門品〉其中的六難情節，圖左邊由上而下依序繪一人被推墮山崖而有雲朵托起、手足被縛及遇蛇蝎；右邊依序為一人臨刑卻刀杖尋斷、被惡人追逐而不能損其身、一人立於變成池水的火坑中。凡此講述遭遇各種危難時，只要稱念觀世音名號，即能消災解厄。
圖下方中央願文榜題不曾書寫，兩旁則為供養人畫像。
