Famen Temple Pagoda: Robe

大紅羅地蹙金繡袈裟
陝西省寶雞市扶風縣法門寺塔地宮出土
又作金襴衣、金襴袈裟。一九八七年陝西省寶雞市扶風縣法門寺塔地宮出土。袈裟係以金縷織成。《賢愚經》卷十二載，「佛陀之姨母摩訶波闍波提手織金襴衣，欲贈如來，後為彌勒所披著。」另《法苑珠林》卷三十五載，「金色袈裟覆於釋迦佛像」。《宋高僧傳》卷二十八及其他書籍有中國僧侶身披金襴衣的記載。此袈裟為唐代（618～907）宮廷供佛之物。
袈裟呈長方形，雙層，大紅羅地，紅絹為裡，以捻金線繡製。四周設緣，緣飾流雲紋。緣內繡二長一短二十一隔之制衣，名七條衣，亦名鬱多羅僧。隔內繡出蓮花，四隅繡一「卍」字形，欄界飾流雲紋。
