Kenchoji Temple: Advice on Diligence in Meditation Practice

此卷應是蘭溪道隆住持日本鎌倉建長寺期間，書以勸誡寺眾當精進參禪辦道，不可懈怠之殷切之語。一九五二年指定為日本國寶。
該卷與作者另一幅墨跡《規則》是為對幅，書法受張即之書風影響，或許書寫較為快速，故不如張即之點畫之周到秀麗；但展現了僧家書法的質樸意誠，不斤斤於雕琢之特質。
蘭溪道隆為南宋（1127～1279）臨濟宗楊岐派僧人、書法家。西蜀涪州（今四川涪陵）人。淳祐六年（1246）赴日，後受禮為建長寺開祖。在日本大力倡導「禪書風格」，形成「破格」的文化新風尚。
參考釋文：見鞭影而後行即非良馬待訓辭而發志實非好僧諸兄弟同住／清淨伽藍已無饑寒之苦當以此事念茲在茲若眼光將謝之時／其害甚重所以古人道饒汝通諸子百家三乘十二分教於汝分／上並不得濟不若體無漏道現在當來誠為廣益且無漏道作／麼生體每日拖一箇屍骸上上下下喜笑怒罵更是阿誰百人中真實／於此回頭返照者鮮纔有不如意事便瞋詬而行如此之者何止一二參／禪辦道只為了此生死大事豈可沐浴放暇之日便恣情懶慢
