十六應真跋語 沈復

沈復中晚年所書。凡十八行，計二百一十三字。據卷中內容看來，應是就圖所書之作，故文字中才有列述應真「有前而顧後者，有始下足而意若憚險者」之語。應真為羅漢別稱，十六應真即十六位羅漢。
此幅作品之書風幾乎全學元代（1271～1368）趙孟頫風格，是趙氏書風籠罩下的產品。其結字妥切，使筆映帶亦中規中矩，略能紹接晉唐風韻，其之於趙孟頫書，可謂善學。此作用筆略快，章法稍呈紛雜，使作品更具自信精神。
沈復字復之。元代書畫家。嘉定（今上海）人。曾出家為僧，法名慧。
參考釋文：夫水不能漂履水如地履地如水／者在四果猶能況秘菩薩行者／乎況佛化化者乎今觀十六應真／遡澗迺有倩人負者有藉手援／者有傴而就挈者有前而顧後／者有始下足而意若憚險者有／已登岸而氣若稍紓者或揭／或厲或杖或戴無不作病涉態／豈前所謂履水而不為所漂者
