Bamiyan East Buddha Niche: Astrological Signs - Surya

阿富汗巴米揚
原位於巴米揚（Bamiyan）石窟東大佛龕龕頂，已毀。原圖以太陽神為中心。太陽神最初出自於波斯古代宗教文獻《阿維斯塔》（Avesta），後被納入希臘、羅馬和印度之圖像。
太陽神挺立於兩輪戰車上，前有四匹白色雙翼天馬牽挽飛馳。太陽神身著長袍，右手持長矛，左手握劍柄，頭部有光環，身高與身後太陽直徑相等。太陽外沿有鋸齒狀光芒，上端有戴風帽的風神，下端有人首鳥身的金翅鳥。戰車上立有三位雙翼武士，中間一身已殘毀，左右二身頭戴盔，身著戰袍，手持矛或盾。這組圖像繪於窟頂表現天象。
該圖色彩鮮明，有紫、藍、褐、紅、黃、灰等，沒有立體透視感，著重於繪畫樣式之統一性，為薩珊王朝（Sassanid，224～651）繪畫風格。
