Sanjusangendo Temple: Wind and Thunder Deities - Wind Deity
三十三間堂風神雷神像
日本
位於堂內千尊千手觀音菩薩立像之兩端，為千手觀音之眷屬。雕造於十三世紀。其形姿據《千手觀音造次第法儀軌‧水火雷電神》造，推測係鎌倉時代（1185～1333）中期湛慶工房所製，此形象被視為日本現存最早之作，具鎌倉時代興盛期的雕像特徵。一九五五年指定為日本國寶。
二神頭部、軀體由檜木多材接合而成，外表彩繪，眼鑲嵌玉石。皆袒上身，搭披肩，著裙，單腳屈膝站立雲端，橫眉豎目，表現威猛氣勢，作相對姿態。
雷神繪以朱紅色，焰髮豎起，表情猙獰，背負太鼓，手握鼓槌，呈行空鳴雷之相。
風神塗以青綠色，卷髮，張口露牙，身後背一風袋，左手緊握袋口。
二像胸肌隆起，筋脈呈露，體軀碩壯，手法寫實，深具躍動感。
