觀音作文士形象，蓄髭，戴風帽，著白衫，荷杖凌波而行，杖頭化現一尊小像。
圖右上方為邵彌自題「尚或可觀子胡不●（目+示）尚或可聞曷充其耳廣莫／之野言信其趾伊誰可招勝蓮華侶丙寅秋中／余適有行照月勒此 石習僧彌」，「勝蓮華侶」即指觀音大士，「丙寅」年即明天啟六年（1626），「僧彌」為作者的字。
邵彌原名邵高，字僧彌，號瓜疇。約生於一五九二年，卒於一六四二年。明代（1368～1644）書畫家。長洲（今江蘇蘇州）人。繪畫工人物山水、花石、翎毛，畫風簡括蕭疏。信佛虔誠，偶畫佛像。
畫中觀音的手與臉用筆工細，衣紋磊落瀟灑，頓挫有力，枯潤相間。蓮葉則以潑墨法表現。此像異於一般戴化佛寶冠、女性形象的觀音造型，文人意趣濃厚。
