Head of a Crowned Buddha

泰國大城時期(Ayutthaya,1350~1767)的造像藝術於十六世紀開始孕育成熟,並發展出佩戴裝飾的佛像,反映出一個富庶王朝帝王的審美觀,此像為範例之一。
 佛戴泰式王冠,紋飾繁複精緻,原應鑲嵌飾物,現已佚失。王冠下緣髮際處繫有細窄的頭帶,耳垂亦掛有飾物。鼻梁呈一直線,與兩道細長的新月眉相連。眼窩深陷,雙目微啟。嘴闊,雙頰飽滿,眉、眼及唇均以細線勾畫,顯得剛毅超脫。
 此時期的佛像創作已不再依循素可泰時期(1238~1438)藝術柔美線條的原則,而變得較為勁挺,著重於精雕細琢裝飾細節,趨向表現華貴富麗的形象。
