此尼泊爾石雕為李查維王朝（Licchavi，約300～879）的重要代表作之一。李查維王朝發源於四世紀加德滿都谷地，為延續印度笈多王朝（約320～550）藝術，又極具尼泊爾傳統特色的年代。
作品中主要人物為摩耶夫人，頭戴冠飾，佩大耳璫、項鍊、臂釧和手鐲。上身袒，纖腰豐臀，腰懸垂帶。雙臂屈舉向上攀握枝椏，身軀重心置於右足，略屈的左足向右跨，呈三屈式立姿，轉折富韻律感。
夫人右下方初生的悉達多太子立於仰覆蓮台上，身後有橢圓形背光，右手屈舉於胸前，左手自然下垂。上方有二飛天，其一腿部彎曲上舉，飛天手持水瓶向下傾倒，似灌沐太子身。作品中卷曲的雲朵、刻劃寫實的樹木和果實，整體造像優雅，技法純熟，展現了李查維王朝雕刻技巧之高超水準。
