Kogajinja Shrine: Eleven-Headed Avalokitesvara with Dragon Queen and Sudhana

十一面觀音菩薩及善女龍王善財童子像 圓空

此三像雕造於十七世紀。日本岐阜縣關市高賀神社保有自平安時代(794~1185)以來至日本南北朝時代(1336~1392)的神像、佛像及銅佛像鏡等作品。圓空曾三次造訪該社,留下雕刻的佛像,現存有二十九尊,此三尊像為其中較大者,為其傑作之一。
 三像由一株針葉樹圓木縱面切開雕成,每尊像背面無雕刻,像之兩側皆凸起似鰭狀,刀法明快、利落,直率地留下刻痕,具有粗獷的輪廓,賦予木頭的生命力。身軀纖細如柱子般的直立造型,具向上延伸的動感。
 主尊十一面觀音菩薩通高221.2公分,跣足立於束腰蓮台上,布帛裹髮髻,沿肩背垂披而下,頭上刻有十面,另外正面中央有端坐於蓮座上的化佛,眉、眼僅劃上一線。觀音臉龐長圓,五官大,嘴角上揚,面露微笑。左手屈臂握物,帔帛長及膝下,頭部與身軀如同直線而下,但不失其均衡優美。左脇侍善女龍王通高175.6公分,頭上承托龍身,以示能帶來雨水與五穀豐收而廣受信奉。右脇侍善財童子通高174.6公分,頭頂尖聳,下頦豐圓,耳鼻短,面容飽滿,合掌於胸前,下襬僅露出單腳。
