Otani: Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva

大谷和平觀音菩薩像 飛田朝次郎

位於日本栃木縣宇都宮市大谷町，為追薦第二次世界大戰期間（1939～1945）陣亡將士及祈願和平而雕造。始造於昭和二十三年（1948），完成於昭和二十九年，昭和三十一年舉行佛像開光。其石材取自當地大谷石，為水成岩的一種，由飛田朝次郎所作，像高26.93公尺。
菩薩面龐方圓，眉間有白毫，五官清晰，雙目半啟，凝視前方，表情慈祥，跣足立於仰覆蓮台上。胸前雕琢瓔珞，風帽垂覆肩背，身著寬袖大衣，衣紋線條疏朗，簡潔流暢，下襬褶紋齊整。雙手置於胸前，遮覆於袖內，神情端莊肅穆，表現出崇高莊重的氣度。
