五大虛空藏菩薩像

約雕造於九世紀上半葉，為入唐日本僧惠運於平安承和十四年（847）歸國時請回之尊像，原供奉於京都山科安祥寺，現藏於教王護國寺觀智院。一九○一年指定為日本重要文化財。
五大菩薩分別為乘馬座的中央法界虛空藏菩薩、騎獅子座的東方金剛虛空藏菩薩、乘象座的南方寶光虛空藏菩薩、乘孔雀座的西方蓮華虛空藏菩薩及乘迦樓羅座的北方業用虛空藏菩薩，均妝彩。
五尊像從頭部至蓮座皆為樟木整材雕出，高70～76公分。面相長圓，頭戴高聳寶冠，冠旁繒帶、飾物垂掛雙肩，飄落體側。頭光鏤空成二重圓圈。上身斜披絡腋，身軀微扁，手持器物，結跏趺坐於多重仰瓣蓮座上。頭髮、雙眼、瓔珞、胸飾等以黑褐色之人工飾物塑形，可見中國唐代（618～907）木雕之技法，為珍貴之遺例。
