該佛屬犍陀羅造像之一。半球形肉髻，以整齊的凹窩表現螺髮。五官俊秀，前額寬廣，眉目細長，微向右下方凝視，鼻梁高挺，面帶微笑，表情寫實自然，兼具王族的高貴風采與佛陀智慧的神韻。此像為灰泥塑造模製並敷彩，當年大量生產，但質地較為脆弱，難以保存。該頭像能歷經千年留存至今，實屬不易。
