此像雕造於十四世紀初期。採木塊拼組技法製成，為日本鎌倉時代（1185～1333）獨特的造像手法。首先將雕刻精緻的小木塊以拼圖的方式組裝，再鑲嵌水晶眼珠，上漆著色，使其產生亮麗的光澤，最後貼飾金箔而成。此像的金箔薄片保存完好，圖樣設計繁複精美。
菩薩像高49.5公分，作僧人形象，左手托摩尼寶珠，右手屈臂持錫杖，錫杖已佚，趺坐於束腰仰覆蓮座上。容顏飽滿，體態豐腴，身軀比例適度，著袈裟，腹前繫結，褶紋清晰，線條柔暢。眉間有白毫，眼瞼微開，輕閉嘴唇，表情肅穆。頭光以二根、三根棒線為一組，從內部向外伸出，棒線交叉於空心圓圈，內部雕飾蓮花紋樣。整尊造型典雅，重視細節之展現，顯示當時造像之考究。
