此浮雕佛傳圖原是嵌於直徑約2公尺的小窣堵波圓形台基，以連環畫形式，依次表現佛陀一生的故事。
佛傳圖每幅高7公分，寬9～22.3公分，按故事情節的鋪排，內容有燃燈佛授記、託胎靈夢、婆羅門占夢、太子降生、太子歸城、阿私陀仙人占相、車匿與犍陟的誕生、太子勤學、調伏醉象、四門出遊、踰城出家、入苦行林謁見仙人、天人獻草、涅槃、荼毗、八王分舍利等場景。此外，還有舞蹈的畫面及主題不明的片段。成道以前的場面詳盡，最後以涅槃、分舍利作終結。但其中缺少太子降生、成道和初轉法輪等重要情節。
這些浮雕各自表現單一的故事情節，有助於了解犍陀羅佛傳美術的情況。
