Statuette of Buddha Protected by Mucalinda

柬埔寨
柬埔寨吳哥時期（約9～15世紀）十二至十三世紀作品。據《佛本行集經》卷三十一記載，釋尊於菩提伽耶初成正覺，在樹下七日入定，此時目支鄰陀龍王以其大身繞佛七匝，化出七頭，俯首為蓋。此作即為龍王護佛像，為該國同一時期建築及工藝品常見的題材。
佛像、台座分別燒鑄而成，以鐵釘結合為一體。佛戴寶冠，臉龐寬闊，寬鼻厚唇。袒上身，豐胸隆腹，飾耳墜、項圈及臂釧。手作禪定印，趺坐於盤龍座上。佛身後帶扇形背光，上有昂首七龍，係表目支鄰陀龍王以身護佛。
佛像下方為柱形台座，柱頭飾獅面人身，底部飾饕餮。整體造型對稱，技巧精湛。依據佛容貌及軀體的造像風格，推測為巴戎（Bayon）後期的作品。
