Bodhidharma with a Single Shoe

此像描繪達摩入滅後三年，中國北魏（386～534）使者宋雲自西域歸來，在帕米爾地區遇見達摩手提隻履西行而去的典故。圖上方有日本大應國師南浦紹明之題贊，從其紀年得知書於鎌倉永仁四年（1296）。
圖中達摩眼神銳利，蓄鬚，表情嚴峻，右手持一隻草鞋，赤足，衣襬隨風揚起，襞褶翻轉，以帶有張力的中粗墨線簡略勾勒衣褶。眼睛施以濃墨，筆法遒勁，表現體軀的質感。技法簡練，僅以寥寥數筆表現出其率直的風格。
