Mathura: Head of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva

印度中央邦秣菟羅出土
印度北方邦秣菟羅（Mathura, Uttar Pradesh）出土。作品大致保存完好，僅鼻子破損。
菩薩相貌清晰，臉形方圓，陽刻弓形眉毛，眉間帶白毫。眼睛呈杏形，優美的唇形與微提的嘴角，顯露出古風式的微笑。
菩薩寶冠由四層裝飾組成，底層為裹額頭的布巾，以長方形銀製金屬扣於中間固定；上層一條鑲有寶石的布帶圍繞頭部，無疑是從敷巾冠飾演變而來；再上一層粗略刻劃大鵬金翅鳥；頂層中央置阿彌陀化佛，兩側各有弟子。金翅鳥裝飾屬一般常見，化佛旁刻弟子像則頗為罕見。
依據冠頂的阿彌陀化佛可辨識該像為觀音菩薩，為早期觀音像開始出現彌陀化佛的例證之一。
