Ganlu Temple Iron Pagoda: Prince Siddhartha at Birth

銀太子降生像
江蘇省鎮江市甘露寺鐵塔地宮出土
一九六○年江蘇省鎮江市甘露寺鐵塔地宮出土。太子呈裸身童子形象，身軀圓潤飽滿，左手指天，右手指地。據《長阿含經》卷一〈第一分初大本經〉記載，世尊降誕落地之後獨行七步，遍觀四方，舉手言：「天上天下唯我為尊，要度眾生生老病死」。
像出土時與存放阿育王（約269～232 BCE在位）舍利的素面小金棺，同置於原屬長干寺的舍利金棺內。唐代（618～907）浙西觀察使兼潤州（今江蘇鎮江）刺史李德裕的重瘞舍利題記石刻中，載有當年瘞埋舍利金棺的事蹟，但未提及有素面小金棺及太子像，故後世推測此像為宋代（960～1279）加放之物。
