鄧石如約六十歲時所書。此作品乃鄧氏住江蘇省揚州市大明寺月餘間，書於晴空閣（今改為陳列室）北院東廊壁上，每日熏沐茹素，經月餘，親自監刻而成。碑文至今仍保持完整。因其傳世佛書少見，為一難得的佛教書跡。
鄧石如初名琰，字石如，後改字頑伯，別號完白山人、笈游道人。清代（1644～1911）著名的書法家、篆刻家。兼工各書體，而以篆隸成就最高。晚年篆書主要汲取漢代（206 BCE～220）碑額篆書的體勢，形體修長，富有舒展飄逸的姿態，開啟清代篆書的新貌。此作以隸筆作篆，結體略長，豪邁奔放而骨氣豐勻；線條圓潤樸茂，有沉穩內張的氣度，實為佳作。
