星雲大師從因應信徒索字，至一九九六年底寫出一幅《平安吉祥》春聯後，每年皆以四字法語書寫春聯，印製贈與廣大信眾，此正是透過書法與人結緣，而達到教化人心之作用。二○○七年正是佛光山寺開山四十周年，因此大師寫下《諸事圓滿》，希望年年事事圓滿、福慧圓滿，一切功德圓滿。由於書寫工具的改變，傳統節慶便成為書法應用的最重要場合之一。
由其自述可知，並無固定書學，乃是隨俗索贈，日久便成自家特色。此幅雖是楷書，通篇少見唐楷的提按，其少見棱角的點畫，與弘一大師晚期成熟風格有相通處。應是兩人在襟懷上相似的自在澹泊，遂同樣反映在書寫上。
星雲大師法名悟徹，號今覺、星雲。臨濟宗第四十八代傳人。創辦臺灣高雄佛光山寺、國際佛光會，致力傳播佛教至全球五大洲，促進國際佛教交流及世界宗教融合。
