出自巴基斯坦某一窣堵波頂部的平頭上。事見《大般涅槃經》，刻劃佛陀於拘尸那揭羅入滅的情節，是犍陀羅常見的佛傳故事之一。
畫面牀榻上的佛陀，右脇而臥，左腿稍屈，雙腳交疊，左手及腿、腳都包裹在大衣內。佛陀在諸比丘及眾弟子圍繞之下，安然地進入涅槃。圖上方有眾多拘尸那揭羅的末羅族人，個個神情哀戚，或仰首，或目光茫然，或悲傷落淚，有的甚至俯身抱頭哭泣。上方中央還有憂傷的娑羅樹女神。執金剛神（面部已損）位於牀尾，悲咽難抑。弟子阿難，哀慟欲絕倒地，由位於前方的阿那律（已損）伸手勸慰。撫著佛足禮拜的是從外地趕回的長老弟子大迦葉。牀前背身，面向佛陀結跏趺坐的僧人，則是最後皈依佛陀的弟子須跋陀羅。在犍陀羅藝術中，類似該圖人物如此激動的情緒表現，僅見於涅槃圖的浮雕中。
