賢愚經卷第十五 （傳）聖武天皇

傳聖武天皇（724～749在位）書於八世紀。《賢愚經》，全稱《賢愚因緣經》，是收集種種有關賢者與愚者之譬喻因緣的經典。此卷凡四百六十七行，一九五一年指定為日本國寶。
聖武天皇是日本學習王羲之的第一人。此卷雖未必是聖武天皇之親筆，但鋒棱轉折，有俊秀醇美之象，確有智永《真草千字文》及光明皇后臨王羲之《樂毅論》筆勢，實可代表早期日本寫經之風貌，而此卷書風又兼有博大雄厚之氣，甚為可貴。
聖武天皇為日本第四十五代天皇，虔信佛教，在位期間，朝野建寺、造佛像、寫經風氣極盛，形成日本佛教美術巔峰時期之奈良美術。
