Bazhong Rock Carvings Southern Niche 83: Two-Headed Buddha

位於神仙坡東面北段中層。開鑿於盛唐(712~756)。為外方內重檐佛帳龕,內龕寬1.2公尺,高1.66公尺,進深0.44公尺。正壁造像三尊,主尊佛為雙頭瑞像,此題材在四川僅此一例,是中國石窟石雕中唯一的一處。雙頭瑞像故事在唐(618~907)玄奘《大唐西域記》卷二「健馱羅國」中有詳細記載。敦煌莫高窟第72及231窟亦有此畫像保存。
 主尊佛雙頭共一身,結跏趺坐於須彌座上,肩披圓領雲肩,左手施降魔印。有內圓外桃形雙層頭光及火焰紋身光;頭光內層為變形蓮瓣紋,外層為火焰紋。主尊左、右側各雕一佛,均立於仰蓮圓台上,亦為瑞像。左側一尊高舉左手指天,右手指向下方,或為指日月瑞像。二佛身著通肩袈裟,衣紋呈圓弧狀,有內圓外桃形頭光。
 須彌座前雕一圓形獸足香爐,置圓形束腰座上;香爐兩側各有一獅,左右相向。外龕左右兩壁下方現存高浮雕供養人七身,均嚴重風化。
