一九九八年陝西省西安市唐空觀寺遺址出土。該像出土時佛座、手臂等部位已遭毀損，從受損程度及出土地點分析，當為唐武宗會昌五年（845）滅佛時，佛像被毀後埋於地下。其形體高大，鐵鑄加之髹漆貼金，實為罕見的珍品。
佛螺髮，肉髻高聳，面闊飽滿，細眼微闔，形象端嚴。屈右臂，掌心向外，似作說法印，左手置於膝上，垂足倚坐。著袒右袈裟，內著僧祇支，腰繫帶作結，垂裳覆座，衣紋清晰可見，少部位遺有碎小貼金。桃形火焰紋頭光以長方形榫與佛像連接，內圈透雕蓮花，線條流暢。除銅質右手及頭光應為後世所補，其餘均為鐵鑄，鑄造精細。
