此像現藏於日本奈良唐招提寺新寶藏館，為該寺創建時期舊講堂木雕群像之一，約雕造於八世紀末，現為日本重要文化財。髻頂、體軀、足趾及至台座，由整材榧木雕成，像不刳空。本為三目六臂之造像，鼻端、右耳、正面二臂之前半，及兩肩側面二臂均已佚失。
菩薩束高髮髻，戴天冠，額際髮絲平整，五官刻劃深入，寬額，細眉，眼開一線，厚唇，兩頰豐滿。頸部三道圓痕，身披帔巾，下著長裙，跣足立於台座上。肩部寬廣，厚胸粗腰，體軀壯碩，充分活用了木材的量感。左肩披鹿皮巾帶，並於胸前繫結，刻工密緻，表現出皮革的彈性及質感。軀體的輪廓及一致的衣紋線條，簡潔明快，為平安時代（794～1185）造像注入新氣息。
