白瓷達摩像

達摩祖師為禪宗初祖，於南朝梁武帝（502～549在位）年間自南天竺（今印度）抵中國。達摩像呈坐姿，眉、髭作螺旋紋，眉頭微鎖，閉目凝神，呈禪定狀，面部做工細膩。身著通肩僧袍，雙手隱於袖中，雙足亦由衣襬覆蓋，衣紋線條流暢，顯現出成熟精美的工藝技巧。瓷胎緻密，釉澤瑩潤，為福建德化窯十七世紀的作品。
福建省德化市以造瓷著稱，創始於宋代（960～1279），明代（1368～1644）盛燒白瓷，其窯釉面以乳白色為主，器身光色如絹，明亮如琉璃，故稱為「象牙白」、「豬油白」。
