生卒年不詳。唐代（618～907）僧。西蜀（今四川）人。據《六祖大師法寶壇經》載，方辯參謁禪宗六祖惠能大師，惠能問其專長，答曰善塑。惠能於是令方辯為其塑像，像成惟妙惟肖，曲盡其巧。惠能道：「汝只解塑性，不解佛性。」仍為其摩頂、授衣，授記其「永為人天福田」。今廣東曲江南華寺的惠能大師夾紵漆真身像，係由方辯加工所成。
