安徽休寧 篆刻家

字修能,號畸臣、菌閣,後改名聞。生年不詳,卒於一六三一年。明代(1368~1644)篆刻家。約活動於萬曆年間(1573~1620)。休寧(今安徽休寧)人。工篆刻,以切刀刻石,印文筆意鮮明,有草篆意趣,被譽為明代第一作手,影響後世浙派印風頗鉅。將戰國古璽校訂為先秦印章,尤屬創見。亦擅詩文,作品不輕易示人,與當時的文人李流芳、趙宦光、陳繼儒等友善。
 精研六書,勤摹刻古印,深入研究金石理論,其篆刻理論見解獨到,曾謂:「刀法者,如字之有起、有伏、有轉折、有輕重,各完筆意,不得孟浪,非雕鏤刻劃,以鈍為左、以碎為刀也。刀法也者,所以傳筆法也。」篆刻作品有海闊能容物蓮心不受污朱文長方章,筆法重漢韻,篆法布局曲盤,創用短刀碎切,簡潔利落。萬曆二十五年至三十九年(1597~1611)耗時十四年完成《印品》二集,考證璽印、章法及辨識真贗等。
 著有《印經》、《菌閣藏印》、《修能印譜》、《印章要論》等。
